WHAT DOES Stimulfos Pet Line CONTAIN?

Beta-glucans “friends” of the immune system

Beta-glucans are polysaccharides with immunomodulation properties: they induce a chain of reactions leading to the activation of the immune system (increased phagocytosis, production of B and T lymphocytes, activation of humoral and cell-mediated immunity).

Numerous scientific evidences show that the dietary supplementation of beta-glucans can:

favourably influence the immune system of dogs and cats and the antibody response following vaccination
contribute to the treatment and prevention of bacterial, viral and fungal diseases.

In particular, recent clinical studies have shown that, following vaccination, higher antibody levels were detected in the serum of animals that had previously and/or simultaneously received an oral administration of Beta-glucans, compared with the serum of vaccinated animals that had not received Beta-glucan supplementation (Altug, Haladovà and Vojtek et al.).

Beta-glucans are found in nature in a variety of sources (fungi, yeasts, bacteria, algae and cereals) with different immunomodulation properties.

Several scientific studies have shown that the beta-1.3/1.6-glucan form present in yeast (particularly Saccharomyces cerevisiae) is the most bioactive.

Stimulfos Pet Line only contains highly pure Beta-glucans extracted from a selected strain of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

Furthermore, in addition to their immunomodulating action, Beta-glucans help to limit the cytotoxic action of chemotherapeutic agents used against cancer and to control certain side effects of chemotherapy (e.g. leukopenia).

Beta-glucans are therefore particularly suitable for supporting the immune system, particularly during debilitating diseases and chemotherapy treatments, during vaccination prophylaxis and under stressful conditions.

Phosphatidic acid

Phosphatidic acid is the simplest phospholipid in cell membranes and is the precursor of many glycerophospholipids, such as phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylethanolamine, which are involved in the correct transduction of cellular signals, in protein, cholesterol and lipid metabolism and in nerve impulse conduction.

By binding to specific receptors, phosphatidic acid also regulates several important cellular functions, including ribosomal biogenesis and protein synthesis, and promotes cell growth, proliferation and survival.

Thanks to these properties, Phosphatidic acid is able to counteract the increased catabolism observed in elderly subjects or during debilitating diseases and to promote anabolic processes, favouring optimal development and growth, prompt recovery in convalescent animals and providing valuable support in physiological ageing.

B vitamins

B vitamins are water-soluble vitamins involved in multiple cellular processes in the body:

glucose metabolism
lipid metabolism
protein metabolism
energy production.

For this reason, their proper intake should never be neglected.

In situations of stress or more or less intense work (e.g. in sporting, hunting and working dogs), the need for B vitamins can increase by two to five times.

In these cases, a decrease of the level of these vitamins in the blood can lead to a weaker immune system, as all B vitamins are involved in immunological processes.

Furthermore, as they cannot be stored as reserves, it is essential that their intake is constant and in the right quantities.

HOW SHOULD I USE Stimulfos Pet Line?

Stimulfos Pet Line can be used before, during or after stressful situations for the animal, also in conjunction with pharmacological treatments.

For best results, continuous intake for at least two weeks is always recommended.

Depending on the animal’s conditions, needs and the advice of the veterinary surgeon, the daily amount can be doubled.

Stimulfos Pet Line comes in the form of palatable tablets eaten by most animals as they are, or broken into some food that the animal appreciates. In particularly difficult subjects who do not accept tablets, these can be powdered, mixed with a small amount of water and administered by syringe.
